George Orwell predicted our future in 1984. Prince partied like it was 1999. Melissa Etheridge wanted to wake up in the year 2001. Marty McFly went all the way to 2015. And here we are already in 2017! Time does fly!
Our year opened with a celebration of excellence where we named the Helpdesk Analyst of the Year (Jake Schober, Deloitte Services, LP) and Desktop Support Technician of the Year (Jeffrey Anderson from Lifeway Christian Resources) and recognized all who competed. Check out some pictures from our elegant evening on the HDI Music City Facebook page. Our local contestants did very well at the regional level and Jeffrey will represent as the Southeast Region Desktop Support Technician of the Year at the HDI Conference and Expo, May 9-12 in Washington, D.C.
Your board is working to bring a high-quality program to 2017 and I am pleased to present our schedule of events, located on the website. Please make plans to join us whenever possible. Every year we solicit input from our members and design the year with you in mind. Be sure to let us know what is important to you because we really do want to know! Many thanks to all of you who have already completed the President’s Circle survey. We strive to bring quality content to our community and appreciate knowing that we do hit that mark.
A hot topic in our community is Knowledge-Centric Service (KCS). On April 24th we will bring together several local practitioners who have either implemented or are in the process of implementing KCS. Come and hear what challenges they faced and overcome as well as the overall value to their organizations of KCS.
If you are already an HDI member I encourage you to take advantage of the benefits of membership. HDI Music City provides a local forum and network. HDI Connect gives you access to a vast number of industry experts in all aspects of technical support and ITSM. Also, if you are attending HDI Conference in May be sure to list your local chapter affiliation for a $200 savings by using promo code HDI17MC when you register.
There are many other irons in the fire and we look forward to serving this community well in 2017!
